Things to Do Off the Strip | Cactus Joe’s
📍 Cactus Joe's | Blue Diamond, NV | 30 minutes from the Strip | A Yes & Well Field Note
What Is This
Cactus Joe’s opened in 1989 as Las Vegas’s first native plant nursery and has since become a local institution. Still family-run, it remains one of the valley’s most trusted sources for Joshua trees, agave, and other drought-tolerant plants. Beyond landscaping, Joe’s has grown into a cultural landmark as part nursery, part outdoor art park, and part wellness venue.
Classes and Education
If you're looking for things to do off the strip, Joe's offers education throughout the year, often tied to the seasons. Sound baths at sunrise or under a full moon, yoga returning in the fall, and breathwork sessions all make use of the nursery’s desert backdrop. Alongside those classes, Cactus Joe’s offers an education series on native plants and garden design, linking wellness back to conservation and the land itself.
Because these events are a mix of house programming and partner-led classes, schedules shift month to month. The most reliable way to know what’s coming up is to follow their Instagram or call directly.
Why It’s a Yes & Well Find
The draw isn’t just the activity, it’s the setting. Rows of native plants, rustic décor, and folk art installations turn a simple sound bath or yoga class into something more grounded and memorable. The same desert backdrop has earned Cactus Joe’s a reputation as one of the best outdoor wedding venues in Las Vegas, and it’s why we’ve included them in our Vegas Photo Map of the city’s most photogenic spots.
Planning Your Visit
Cactus Joe’s is located about 25 minutes west of the Strip, so you’ll need a car to get there. Summer brings scorching temperatures and reduced hours; cooler months expand both the operating schedule and the lineup of classes. Make sure to check their schedule, or our Vegas Event Calendar for what’s upcoming.
As a family-owned business with more than three decades of history, supporting them means contributing to Mojave conservation while experiencing one of the city’s most unexpected wellness venues.
Wherever wellness is headed, we're already there.
